Maintenance Engine Ground Run Safety — Why This Matters

  • Maintenance-driven engine runs (post-maintenance checks, leak checks, rigging/trim checks, troubleshooting) put a technician in the cockpit and the aircraft in a live-engine state outside of normal flight operations.
  • Unlike a flight-line start, there is no flight crew — the run is entirely on maintenance personnel to plan, execute, and secure safely.
  • Always follow the aircraft-specific AMM ground run procedure and your company's engine run authorization policy.
